Belbin TeamSkills

Belbin TeamSkills is used to map how people relate, interact, and contribute in a team, and to ensure the team has the right conditions to achieve its goals. It also helps team members leverage their own and others’ strengths and manage their allowable weaknesses.

Belbin is a behavioral profile that includes both a self-assessment and feedback from colleagues/managers. It is based on research showing that the various contributions people make in teamwork can be divided into nine team roles, or ways of contributing to a team. For a team to succeed, all nine are needed. Each individual works effectively in two to four team roles, and the most effective teams are those with different strengths that can be leveraged.

Belbin TeamSkills was originally developed by the British team researcher Dr. Meredith Belbin.
